Fahd Sami – CEO and Managing Partner of Sami Capital

  • Fahd is CEO and Managing Partner of Sami Capital with over 10+ years of experience across the legal, corporate and fintech sectors.
  • Fahd has extensive experience advising on complex M&A transactions for large private equity clients and corporate structuring across in jurisdictions such as UK, UAE (on-shore and offshore), Cayman Islands and Pakistan.
  • Fahd has a keen interest in technology and finance. Apart from establishing Sami Capital, Fahd has also founded a tech company Naurillion in the UAE which is developing Dinisium, a blockchain enabled investment platform backed by real world assets.
  • A lawyer by qualification and a member of the Sindh High Court Bar Association with rights of audience before the High Courts in Pakistan

Mehreen haider, mba – Managing partner

  • Mehreen has 18 years of experience in developed and emerging markets in derivatives structuring and sales, investment grade and high yield bond and sukuk investing, private credit origination and structuring and hedge fund manager allocation.
  • She has acquired extensive deal experience while working at some of the largest institutions on the sell-side (Standard Chartered Bank, Dubai Islamic Bank and Scotiabank) and buy-side (Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and Canada Pension Plan) in developed and emerging markets within Global Markets, Hedge Fund Allocation and Private Credit Capital Solutions.
  • Mehreen’s investment grade and high yield experience includes conventional and Islamic single name selection and portfolio duration and yield enhancement strategies in UAE, Pakistan, North America and Latin America.
  • Her private credit deal experience includes private credit origination for leveraged buyouts, dividend recap and refinancing, liability management, covenant relief, rescue finance, liquidity enhancement and restructuring across healthcare, manufacturing, software, real estate and business services in North America, Latin America and Europe.
  • Her hedge fund allocation experience includes manager allocation, investment and divestment for multi-strategy, commodities, equities, rates and managed futures strategies.
  • As AVP at Dubai Islamic Bank (UAE), she successfully identified and closed the first-ever derivatives deals in new to treasury clients.
  • As Head of Interbank and ALCO Secretary at Dubai Islamic Bank (Pakistan), Mehreen successfully advised the ALCO on embedded interest rate risks in the banking book and managed market risk through successive bouts of exchange rate volatility.
  • Mehreen is an alumnus of McGill University (Canada) and the Institute of Business Administration (Pakistan).

ASH-SHEIKH MUFTI MUHAMMAD HASSAAN KALEEM  

Ash-Sheikh Mufti Muhammad Hassaan Kaleem is a renowned figure in the field of Islamic Finance. He is considered as one of the most revered Sharia Scholar in the Islamic Finance Industry, who sits on the Sharia Advisory Boards of numerous financial institutions, Islamic Investment Funds and Takaful Companies, including Al-Ameen UBL Funds, Adamjee Takaful, State Life – Window Takaful Operations, Pak Qatar Family Takaful Ltd- Pakistan, Hanover Re Takaful-Bahrain, and Takaful Emirate- UAE etc.
In addition, Mufti Hassaan is a Sharia Consultant of Deloitte (Global Islamic Finance Team), Trainer of Sharia Standards, a Member of Subcommittee of Sharia Standards at AAOIFI- Bahrain, visiting faculty member of National Institute of Banking and Finance (State Bank of Pakistan) and Centre for Excellence in Islamic Finance (CEIF) – IBA and a permanent faculty member of Centre for Islamic Economics Karachi. Furthermore, he was the former Sharia Advisor of Bank Al Baraka and Chairman Sharia Board of SECP.
Mufti Hassaan holds vast experience of teaching various Islamic Subjects at the Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi for the past approximately 20 years.
He also works as Member – Shari’ah Board of Dubai Islamic Bank Pakistan Ltd. He is a frequent trainer and expert in simplifying complex issues related to Islamic Finance. He has delivered lectures and presentations in many Islamic Finance conferences and seminars in Pakistan and around the world.
